Omalloor, also spelt Omallur, is a beautiful setting in
Pathanamthitta District of
Kerala. The village lies on the Angadickal-Elanthoor road, about 5 km west of
Pathanamthitta, the district headquarters. The places which border Omalloor are Chenneerkara, Kulanada,
Aranmula and Aruvappulam.
The prime attraction is an annual cattle fair called Vayalvanibham. The fair is held in the Malayalam month of Meenam (April-May). It is attended by thousands of people from very distant places and even from outside the State.
Rakthakanta Swamy Temple, also called Omalloor Ambalam, is the major place of worship here. The Thanka Anki procession on its way to Sabarimala visits this temple every year.
Kadammanitta Devi Temple, Valanchuzhi Temple on the banks of the Achankovil River and Kozhencherry are the nearby places of attention.
By road, Omalloor is linked with major cities and towns in Kerala. Chengannur Railway Station, 30 km from Pathanamthitta, is the nearest railhead. Trivandrum International Airport is 119 km away from the district headquarters.
