Situated in the outskirts of Sonbhadra, Obra Dam is a major source of power in
Uttar Pradesh. Built in 1974, this dam is one of the main tourist attractions in
Sonbhadra District.
There is a mini hydro-power plant with a capacity of about 99 MW. Constructed across the Rihand River, this dam has a length of abut 450 m and a height of 29 m. This dam supplies water to the Obra Thermal Power House.
