Nyada Festival

Nyada, an eight day long festival, is celebrated by Rengma Nagas - a tribal community of Assam. It falls during the month of Penepho (December) and marks the end of the agriculture year. Each day of the festival has its own significance. The rituals associated with this festival are beer brewing, graves repairing of the ancestors by their descendants, rice beer offering by women, singing and dancing of boys and girls and rice beer drinking. A feast is arranged by the young men on the last day of the festival.
