Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary




Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary lies near Lailad village in Ri-Bhoi District of Meghalaya.

Wildlife includes Asian elephant, Himalayan black bear, royal Bengal tiger, clouded leopard and Indian bison. Endangered species of birds include swamp, partridge, brown hornbill, Rufus necked hornbill and Manipur bush quail.

The sanctuary can be approached from Umling on Guwahati-Shillong Highway (National Highway 40)and then along Umling-Patharkhmah road for 17 km up to Lailad village.
