Situated at a distance of 30 km from
Imphal along Tiddim Road, Ningthoukhong is a small town and an important commercial center. A portion of Loktak Hydro Electric Project is situated here. Vaishnava traditions have a special place in Ningthoukhong. One of the idols of
Lord Krishna, consecrated during the time of Manipuri king Rajarishi Bhagyachandra, is still worshipped here by the local populace as Shri Gopinath. Pious Vaishnavites visit here regularly to offer prayer to the deity.
Silchar Railway Station, 180 km from Imphal, is the nearest railhead.
