Ningel is a small village of historical importance located in
Thoubal District. It is 35 km south-east of
Imphal on Imphal-Chandrakhong road.
There are two megalithic monuments situated at this place. The first monument is believed to have been erected in 1744. The second monument, built in 1814, is placed at a height of 1 m above ground level. An inscription of eighteen lines on coarse sandstone giving details of the inauguration of the marketplace at Ningel is also located here.
