Nilamadhaba Temple is located at
Kantilo in
Nayagarh District of
Orissa. This temple is dedicated to
Lord Vishnu, who is referred here by the name Nilamadhaba. The temple has a close resemblance to
Jagannath Temple of
Puri.
It was built around the 9th century by Gandhamardan Dev, a king who belonged to the Boudh dynasty. It is located at the right bank of Mahanadi River. The meeting point of this river with Kuanria and Kusumi rivers is nearby.
The region surrounding the temple is noted for its scenic beauty. Nayagarh, the district headquarters, is 25 km from here.
