Nehru Bal Samiti is a national-level, multifaceted and multi-dimensional voluntary organization in
New Delhi, the capital city of India. The organization works for the betterment of the children, adolescents, women and elderly persons. It aims to bring about qualitative changes in the lives and working environments of the people who live in economically and socially backward areas.
Activities include developing infrastructure for educational projects, recreational activities, health check-up and medical aid, awareness programs related to deadly impact of AIDS, smoking and alcoholic, drugs and high increase in population. In collaboration with the Indo-Russian Council for Child Development, the Bal Samiti conducts children's cultural exchange programs with Russian Schools.
Numerous child artists of Delhi and the neighboring towns participate in the Bal Mela or Creativity Festival, celebrated on the Universal Children's Day. The festival helps in flowering the creative faculties in painting, toy making, original poem recitation and story writing as well as to display children's talents in performing arts like classical, solo and folk dances, solo vocal and instrumental music.
