Natya Mandapam, the temple of the Dancing Gods, is seen near the Nandi of
Lord Veerabhadra Temple in Anantapur. It is a dance hall of 70 stone pillars. The deities seem dancing and playing music. While Goddess Parvati watches, Lord Shiva is dancing, Lord Brahma is seen beating the drum, Chandra (the moon god) plucks the veena and Surya (the sun god) is shown playing the flute. Paintings which depict scenes from the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and the Puranas cover the ceiling of the hall.
