National Metallurgical Laboratory, located in
Jamshedpur, was started in 1946 by the council of Scientific and Industrial Research in India. It makes significant contributions to the development of metallurgical industry in the country.
The laboratory promotes scientific research on a planned basis in various fields. It serves as a major station for carrying out research on ferrous, non-ferrous and alloys, and materials and engineering components.
The laboratory is fully equipped on modern lines and collaborated with other research institution and organization of the council.
