Nataraja Oordhvatandavamoorthy–Aalankatteesar Temple




Nataraja Oordhvatandavamoorthy–Aalankatteesar Temple is located at Tiruvalankadu near Kanchipuram. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva known by the name Aalankatteesar. Goddess Vandaarkuzhaliammai is enshrined in a separate sanctum. This temple contains a rajagopuram, many mandapams and gopurams. The temple preserves many inscriptions that date back to the 5th century. The sthala vriksham (sacred tree) is banyan tree and the temple teertham is Mukti Theertham. Saints Sambandar, Appar and Sundarar have glorified this temple through their pathigams. The main festival is the Margazhi Tiruvadirai celebration.
