Nanda Ashtami is is one of the tribal festivals of
Uttaranchal. This festival is celebrated in mid-September in honour of the
Goddess Nanda Devi,
whose abode is on the twenty five thousand foot high peak of the same name in Uttaranchal. In the festival, it is mandatory to have garland of flowers brought from the bugyal or the high altitude alpine meadows.
