Naginimara is a major town in
Mon District of
Nagaland. Also spelled Naginimara, it is 29 km north-west of
Mon.
Naginimara, erstwhile Lakhan, is named after a Konyak Naga Queen, Watlong Konyak. The interesting weekly market held at Naginimara, on every Saturday, is a medley crowd of Assamese and Konyak Tribe.
Located at an altitude of 1,023 ft above sea level, Naginimara is rich with natural resources. The place is also noted for its coal deposits. Naginimara is connected with Simaluguri by rail route, which was constructed in 1929 to carry coal.
Dimapur Airport and Simaluguri Junction Railway Station are the nearest airport and major railway station respectively.
