Nagaraja Temple

Nagaraja Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Nagercoil, in Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu. The temple is about 19 km from Kanyakumari on the way to Padmanabhapuram Palace. The temple enshrines Nagaraja, the King of Snakes, as the presiding deity. The five-headed image of the deity is installed on the ground where it was originally found.

Nagaraja Temple is built in traditional Kerala style of architecture. The entrance to the temple resembles the Chinese architecture of Buddha Vihara. Images of Lord Shiva and Ananthakrishna are seen installed in the Ardhamandapa. The pillars of the mandapa are exquisitely garnished with figures of Jain Tirthankars - Parshwanath and Mahavir.

Nagarcoil Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead. The nearest airport is the Trivandrum International Airport, 75 km away.
