Nagar is an ancient village noted for its threefold sequence of culture. It is in
Jalandhar District of
Punjab. Situated on the
Phillaur-
Nawan Shehar road, this place is nearly 6 km north-east of Phillaur.
Archeologically, this village possesses great importance. The Archeological Survey of India has conducted several excavations here and unearthed painted greyware with a sprinkling of the late Harappan pottery, semi-circular huts and two oval structures of burnt earth. Copper objects, bone styli, terracotta ear-ornaments and animal figures, beads and bangles, and coins are among other findings.
The Phillaur Fort and the ancient site Katpalon are within a short distance.
Phillaur Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Ludhiana Airport serves this area.
