Muthuvans are the most backward type of tribes among the clans staying in the deep and dense forest of
Devikulam,
Adimali and
Nedumkandam block panchayats,
Idukki District.
The members live in bamboo huts, which are very much congested and stay close to one another. Primarily these people are engaged in the field of agriculture. They plow Ragi in their own lands.
Muthuvans have their own secretive customs and regulations. They lead private and simple life. Their women are not allowed to have any relationship with the outside world other than their bamboo huts.
