The Bhava exponent and a devotee of Lord Shiva, Muthu Thandavar was a saintly composer of the 16th century. Also known as Thandavan, he was born in a family of instrumental musicians in Seerkhazhi near Chidambaram of Tamil Nadu. A blend of bhava, bhakti and rasa, his works are noted for their lyrics, theme and style of presentation.
Popularly referred to as one of the Tamil Moovar (Tamil Trinity), Muthu Thandavar has to his credit over 60 songs and 25 Padams.
