Museum of Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, established in 1955, is located on the West Jawahar road in
Darjeeling.
The museum holds a rare collection of mountaineering equipments, specimens of Himalayan flora and fauna and samples of minerals and rocks. Expedition photographs and models of the Sikkim-Himalayas, routes of different Everest expedition since 1921 are also displayed. Film shows on mountaineering are conducted on special occasions.
Visiting hours are from 08:30 hrs to 13:00 hrs and from 14:00 hrs to 16:30 hrs. It is closed on Tuesdays.
