Murudeshwar Shiva Temple is situated on a small hill known as Kanduka Giria in
Murdeshwar,
Karnataka. It is surrounded by the
Arabian Sea on three sides. The temple enshrines a
shivling, which is believed to have erupted when
Ravana flung the cloth covering the Atmalinga while lifting it. Two life-size elephants in concrete stand guard at the steps leading to the temple.
