Murkunda

Murkunda is a town in Gumla District of Jharkhand. It is about 17 km south-west of Gumla, the district headquarters. Palkot, the closest major town, is around 12 km south.

Among the points of interest around Murkunda are Malmalpur and Shitalpur Caves, Gobarsilli Rock, Palkot Wildlife Sanctuary, Bhaghmunda Waterfalls and Palkot Hills. The South Koel River passes nearby.

Ranchi is around 95 km south-west. Bano Rilway Station and Ranchi Airport are the nearest access points. National Highway 23 passes a few kilometers west of Murkunda.
