Muner

Muner is situated 26 km to the west of Patna, on the busy Patna-Varanasi road, in Bihar. The place is famous for the beautiful Sufi mausoleum dedicated to the Sufi saint Yahia Muneri. Muner is also known for its sweets, especially ladoos, made of lentils.

The imposing red stone structure of the mausoleum was constructed in 1805 by Ibrahim Khan, the governor of erstwhile Gujarat province under Jehangir. It is perched atop a hill, over looking the lake and the gardens at the foot. A three-day Urs festival held here in February draws a large number of devotees from far and near.

Muner can be reached by bus from Patna. Patna is the closest airport and railway station. Regular trains connect Patna with New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Varanasi.
