Mundeeswarar Temple




Mundeeswarar Temple is situated 3 km west of the Chennai-Tiruchirappalli highway, on the branch leading to Tirukkovilur and Thiruvannamalai. The temple, about thousand years old, was built by Parantaka Chola I. There are many inscriptions about the contributions of Rajaditya and Parantaka. The Sthala Vriksham (sacred tree) is Vanni and the Teertham is Mundaka Teertham. The festivals celebrated here are Appar Vizha is celebrated in the month of Chittirai (April–May) and Arudra Darisanam is celebrated in Margazhi (December–January).
