Mukteshwara Temple




Mukteshwara Temple in Chaudadanapura, is a jewel of the 11th-12th century architectural style. It was built during the glorious reign of the Chalukyas of Kalyana and the Sevunas of Devagiri. Built on the southern bank of the Tungabhadra River, this temple worships a swayambhu Shivling named Mukteshwara. The temple is an ideal place to view all facets of Indian civilization, encompassing religion, art and poetry. Chaudadanapura is in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri District. Ranebennur is accessible by road or by rail. Regular buses ply between Bangalore (295 km) and Ranebennur. The railway line connecting Mumbai-Miraj-Hubli-Bangalore passes through Ranebennur.
