Mukha Kheil is a mask dance performed in
Jalpaiguri District of
West Bengal. It is popular among local Rajvamshis.
This dance adopts the themes from the Ramayana. It is usually performed on the occasion of Kali Puja.
The dancers wear masks that are made of wood in Tibetan style. After the show, the mask is cut into pieces and thrown in the river for fear of incurring the anger of the goddess.
