Mirpur is a coastal village in
Midnapore District of
West Bengal. The queens of Mirpur or Mirjapur had founded an artillery division under the leadership of some Portuguese soldiers, to fight the 'Bargi menace' in Bengal. These soldiers defeated Bargi's and they demanded some 100 acres of land from the queen as settlement. Today also their descendants still live here. The prime attraction of this village is a 200 year old church which was rebuilt in 1975.
