Minjar is one of the most beautiful and colorful monsoon festivals celebrated in the state of
Himachal Pradesh.
On this day, people cook special sweet and savory delicacies and distribute it among friends and relatives. The women dress in colorful and attractive costumes, and take these delicacies in a large flat dish along with Minjar (maize flower) to the riverbank singing and dancing. They then immerse it into the river. The songs sung express the desire of a married woman to visit her father’s house and the lost feeling.
