Occupying an area of 142 sq km, the Middle Button Island National Park is 60 km from
Long Island in
Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Long Island is about 82 km from
Port Blair.
The park is divided into two sections, Upper Dachigam (tow thirds of the entire area) in the east and Lower Dachigam in the west. Lower Dachigam is lively by a river, which passes through a shrub-covered rocky ravine. Upper Dachigam is a home for blue whale, dolphins and sea turtles, while the lower reaches are enriched with mulberry trees, willows and oaks.
During January to March, the park becomes much desired by nature lovers. The park is easily accessible from Vir Savarkar Airport. Boat tours are also arranged from Long Island.
