Merao is a small village situated about 8 km west of
Mandvi, in
Kutch District of
Gujarat. In ancient days the village was known as ‘Khandha’; the recent village of Merao was built by the ‘Changlani’ tribe of Muslims. The village was named after Meru, the chief of the tribe. Most of the villagers are farmers. Jains and Kanbis are the main local depends on farming and business.
Major point of attraction is the Shri Vasupujya Jain Derasar, Shri Thakar Mandir, Shri Kashivishvanath Mahadev's Mandir, Shri Bhidbhanjan Mahadev's Temple, Shri Hanuman Mandir and Shri Hussanshah Pir's Dargah.
Bhuj Airport serves Merao. New Bhuj Railway Station is the nearest railhead. By road, Merao is well connected with Mandvi.
