Mer Raas is a warrior dance performed by the Mer community of the
Saurashtra region of
Gujarat. This beautiful folk dance is at present widely performed at
Porbandar, a picturesque harbor town lying on the western coast of Saurashtra. In this dance form the performers exhibit their martial valor during the dance.
Before commencing they throw Gulal (colored powder) over their body and dresses to exhibit joy. They use thick long sticks (Parona). This dance form is devoid of song.
