Mayuranatha Temple




Mayuranatha Temple is a beautiful shrine, located at Mayavaram, in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. The presiding deity here is Lord Mayuranatha.

The temple features an imposing nine storied, 164 ft high Rajagopuram.

There are 3 shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesh; Peria Vinayaka (Big Vinayaka), Agastya Vinayaka and Kalanjia Pillaiyar (Granary Vinayaka).

Peria Vinayaka is enshrined on the southern side of the flag-mast. It is believed that Sage Agastya installed the Agastya Vinayaka shrine and conducted worship daily. The Kalanjia Pillaiyar is believed to guard the granary and to keep it full always. He is enshrined near the temple granary.
