Mattupuram is a small village situated near
Paravur (North) in
Ernakulam District of
Kerala. Vast expanses of paddy fields and coconut farms adorn the landscape of the village. Mattupuram lies on the
Periyar River, 19 km from
Aluva town.
Farming is the main occupation of the people here. Plantain and spinach are cultivated in large. The village has many schools, churches and temples.
Elanthikara is an important tourist spot here. The joining of two rivers namely the Periyar and the Chalakudiyar near Elanthikara is worth seeing. Saraswati Temple and St Thomas Syrian Church are the major places of worship in the neighborhood.
Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport. Aluva Railway Station serves the village. Regular buses connect Mattupuram with Paravur and Ernakulam.
