Matho Pass (Matho La) is situated at an altitude of about 4,878 m, in the
Leh District of
Jammu and Kashmir. The pass is an ideal base for trekking. The climb up to the pass is very difficult. The pass descends to the Matho Valley. There live a large number of snow cocks, a giant partridge, but are difficult to be seen. The famous Matho Monastery is situated nearby.
