Matchru, also called Anti or Animal market, is located in the heart of a vast plateau in
South Garo Hills District of
Meghalaya.
A big stretch of flat rock bears footprints of all kinds of animals big and small. More than thousands of footprints are embedded here. All other rocks in the vicinity are free of such prints.
It is believed by the local people that the place was a market place of animals.
