Marudhamalai Muruga Temple, also known as Marudhamalai Hills Arulmigu Subramanyaswamy Temple, is a highly revered shrine situated about 15 km north-west of
Coimbatore, in
Tamil Nadu. The temple enshrines a 5 ft tall idol of
Lord Muruga, with his right hand holding Dandayudham (rod), the left hand placed on the hip and a vel (spear) placed across. The image resembles the deity at
Palani.
This sacred shrine is situated at a height of about 500 ft above sea level, against the visually stunning backdrop of hazy blue hills dotted with shrubs and bushes of varied hues, in a plateau on the Western Ghats.
Thaipusam and Tirukarthigai festivals are celebrated with much pomp and splendor.
There is a wedding hall at the top of the hill for celebrating marriage. A rest house, called Marudham, situated at the foothill, offers excellent accommodation facilities.
Coimbatore North Railway Station is the nearest railhead. The Devasthanam provides 3 mini buses, for the benefit of the devotees.
