Martur lies in

Gulbarga and 9 km from
Farhatabad.
Some stone inscriptions dating back to AD 1124 were obtained from Kalingeshwara temple of Martur. As per the inscriptions at the temple, Vijnaneshwara, who lived in the court of Emperor Vikramaditya (1076-1126 AD), had written Mitakshara. Mitakshara is a law treatise that deals with Hindu religion.
