Martam




Martam is a town situated at an altitude of 5,000 ft above sea level in East Sikkim District of Sikkim. It is about 5 km from Rumtek and 30 km from Sirwani. The place is rich in natural beauty with the vast expanses of green paddy fields and the beautiful mountains.

Rumtek Monastery, the largest monastery in Sikkim, is a ten-minute drive from Martam. Mani Lhakhang is another draw. One can also get the beautiful view of the Tinjure Hills from here. Accommodation facilities are available at Martam Village Resort.

Martam can be approached on the National Highway 31A en-route to Ranipool. Taxi services are operating between Martam and Ranipul. New Jalpaiguri Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Civil Enclave Bagdogra serves Martam.
