Markandeshwara Temple




Markandeshwara Temple is one of the oldest shrines at Kallur, near Raichur, in Karnataka. Lord Shiva in the form of Markandeshwara is the presiding deity here. The shrine is noted for its beautifully carved pillars. King Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagar Empire, along with his family, is believed to have worshipped the lord here.
