Mardi Gras Carnival is one of the famous festivals in
Goa. It has been celebrated since the 18th century with pomp and fanfare. The festival, held in February or March, is attended by thousands of people. During the festival, a huge procession is arranged with dances and bands. The carnival lasts for three days and is presided over by King Momo. It is connected with the feasts of ancient Rome and Greece and ends with the famous red and black dance. Tourists are advised to book their hotel in advance for the carnival.
