Mar Basil Dayara was founded in 1938 by Metropolitan Puthencavu Geevarghese Mar Philexinos of Thumpamon diocese. This is an important pilgrim center in
Pathanamthitta, the administrative headquarters of
Pathanamthitta District.
The objective of the Dayara is the overall spiritual, educational and temporal growth of the diocese. Currently all activities are carried out here under the leadership of the diocesan Metropolitan Philipose Mar Eusebios.
