Mansarovar Lake




The highest freshwater body in the world, Mansarovar Lake is in the middle of Mount Kailash and Mount Gurla Mandhata at a height of 14,950 ft above sea level. Covering an area of about 320 km, the circumference of the lake is 88 km and the depth is 90 m. It is the source of four great rivers, the Indus, the Sutlej, the Brahmaputra and the Karnali.

Mansarovar Lake is also a famous lake in the Hindu mythology. It freezes in the winters and melts only in spring.

Best time to visit is August.
