Manjira Nritya




Manjira Nritya is a unique dance form of the Padhar community of Bhalnalkantha region. In this dance form the performers sit in circular position with legs stretched. The dancers perform a variety of actions and modes such as getting up, sitting, standing, turning, taking Fudadi and playing Manjira with feet fingers by raising legs vertically. Ektaro and Tabla are the major musical instruments which accompanies Manjira Nritya.

Bhajanika are the master in performing Manjira Nritya in the region of Saurashtra. They perform the dance while singing bhajans. This type of dance is popularly known as ‘Tera Tal’ in Rajasthan.
