Manikeshwari temple is located on the southern part of
Sonpur. The temple is held sacred by the fishermen community. The present structure was built during the reign of Maharaja Prataprudra Singh Deo. The temple enshrines Goddess Manikeshwari, the chief deity of the fishermEn community.
This temple is situated on the right side of Sonpur-Manamunda road. The State Highway-14 leading to
Bhubaneswar from Bolangir passes though Sonpur. It is well connected by road from all major towns of
Orissa.
