Manikandeswarar Temple




Manikandeswarar Temple is situated on the Arakkonam - Kanchi railway line at Tirumarperu, Thanjavur District. The temple, dating back to the period of Parantaka Chola I, was renovated in 1937. It has a 70 foot high Rajagopuram. The Sthala Teerthams of the temple are Ari and Chakra Teerthams. There are many inscriptions here including those which reveal the importance of Nammalvar's Tiruvaimozhi at the Ninrarulia Perumaal Temple. The main festival is celebrated is the Brahmotsavam in Maasi (January–February).
