Manasammatham is a basic custom associated with the Christian marriages, especially in
Kerala. It is organized before the wedding and the prospective bride and groom appear before the church authorities to declare their willingness to get married. It is a sort of a declaration of consent to get married.
Two males, from brides and grooms side, stand as witness to this ceremony. This engagement will be announced in the church, during the next three successive weeks. This is to inform others about the marriage and also to see if anyone has any objections regarding the marriage.
