Makanpur is an important pilgrim township in
Kanpur Dehat District. This town, close to
Kannauj District border, is famous for a shrine of Badi-ud-din Madar Shah who came to India in the 13th century and became popular as Shah Madar among his believers. The annual fair observed every year at his mausoleum is quite popular.
Makanpur, situated in the extreme northern part of district, is about 7 km from Araul, 14 km from Nawada and 18 km from Kannauj. Bilhaur Railway Station and C A Kanpur Airport are the nearest railway station and airport.
