Majur Pokhari, also known as Peacock Lake, is a sacred lake in
West Sikkim District. Majur means ‘the wings of a bird.’ The lake has a green iridescent sheen, shaped like the wings of a bird, which glistens brightly, at its center. It is said to be caused due to the reflection of light. The lake is on the Gomuthang-Boktak trek route.
Majur Pokhari borders Khongmo-tsang in North Sikkim District. The other prominent lakes nearby includes Khechopalri, Chiwabhanjan, Ram-Lakshman Lake, Lakshmi Pokhari, Lampokhari, Dud Pokhari and Samiti.
