Majeru is 10 km from
Machilipatnam in
Krishna District. Buddhist records indicate that the place was known as Majerika Vishasya Village. The excavations made here have identified some ancient habitation mounds in the northeast of village. In addition, the brick structures of early historic period, a collection of antiquities such as beads, bangle pieces and iron objects were found.
