Maidenhalli

Maidenhalli, around 125 km from Bangalore, is a remote corner of Tumkur District. This place is home to the graceful blackbucks, also known as the Indian Gazelle. The 800-acre grassland forest reserve at this place is one of the few places in the country that is home to the endangered species of antelopes. The entire landscape is dry and full of pebbles, with hardly any vegetation except for a few trees and some thick shrubs. The forest also harbors many interesting inhabitants including the Indian fox, Indian porcupine, jackal, wild boar, birds and butterflies. Maidenhalli is 25 km from Madhugiri which is about 43 km north of Tumkur.
