Maibi is a traditional folk dance popular in
Manipur. It is considered as the annual ritual festival of the
Meiteis, the inhabitants of the Imphal Valley. Maibi Dance is a major attraction during the festive season of
Lai-Haraoba.
The origin of Meitei people and their way of life are depicted in this dance form. Maibi Dance starts with the process of creation, in which the construction of houses and various occupations that people take on to sustain themselves are showed.
