Mahur is a sub-divisional town in
North Cachar Hills District. This town is dominated by Hmar tribes.
Haflong,
Maibong,Hangrum and Kumbhir are some of the better known places in its vicinity.
Main attractions in and around the town are Ranachandi Temple near Maibong and
Jatinga, a small village famous for the phenomenon of birds committing suicide.
Mahur is around 10 km from Haflong and 15 km from Maibong.
Lower Haflong Railway Station serves Mahur.
